Jefferson Westside Neighborhood is one of Eugene’s oldest neighborhoods. It doesn’t have the flash of Downtown or the Whiteaker, but it has a solid array of interesting businesses and organizations. It also won Neighborhood of the Year in 2010 from Neighborhoods USA. This neighborhood has a surprise on every corner, and its charm will invite you to come back and explore. Lane County Historical Museum – Whether it is artifacts or historical documents you want the LCHM is where you will find them. This nonprofit museum is dedicated to the preservation of Lane County’s rich history, including the area’s role in the Oregon Trail and Eugene’s Tracktown culture.
Picc-A-Dilly Flea Market – Located at the Lane County Fairgrounds this 40 year-old tradition is a mainstay for Eugenians. Whatever you’re looking for, they have it, and if they don’t, you don’t need it.
The Red Cane Theatre – Performing weekly, the Phoenix Players have been deemed ‘The Hardest Working Troupe in Eugene” by Eugene Weekly. This theatre also gives beginning, intermediate and advanced theater dance classes. Tickets are available on the website.
Eugene Ice Center – For all things hockey related, Eugene’s Ice Center is the place to practice. They offer classes, drop-in games and leagues for adults who wish to challenge their prowess on the ice. Registration ends January 20th for Spring League.
Monroe City Park – This quaint city park rests in the center of JWN. It is a haven of trees and grass in among the rows of single family homes. There is a path bordering the park that is perfect for weekend runs or walks.
Best Martial Arts Institute – Opened in 1988, this Martial Arts studio has become known simply as “The Dojo”. BMAI is known for the range of classes given. Everyone from top-notch fighters to children are welcome here. Sensei Alan Best oversees the classes and has gained a respected reputation in Eugene for his skill and instruction.
Sweet Life Patisserie – Fancy something sweet? Sweet Life is a patisserie specializing in cakes, tortes, gelato, and pastries. There’s something for everyone at this sugary sanctuary.
Ring of Fire – Tempura, Spring Rolls, Beef Satay, and much more. This asian style restaurant has everything from pad thai to tempura bananas. They also cater for large events and parties.
Burger Lovers – This hole-in-the-wall burger joint touts “The Best in Oregon”. Located on seventh street it is easily accessible.
